Wild Things

Hey guys! I hope everyone is having a good weekend so far! One of my favorite Christian rappers is Andy Mineo. His new album Heroes For Sale just came out last week and it is so awesome. The message he brings throughout his album is one of grace, forgiveness  and talking about living unashamed of the cross. If you like rap, I highly recommend that you go listen to it! Anyways the reason why I'm bringing him up is because on his new album he has a song called " Wild Things" This song has opened up my eyes and heart so much to something that I had been avoiding.

Welcome to the church in the wild
I live with dudes haven't been to church in a while
I've chosen this lifestyle, you ever met my friends?
Porn stars, dope dealers, they like, "Why you chill with them"?
I thought you was a Christian? Yeah I'm on that team
But I'm with them cause my life's the only bible that they've ever seen
Some wanna be an earshot from the church bell
I wanna win souls, make gunshots in the worst hell
Telling 'em Christ became a curse for they sin with my words and my works
They won't come in? I'm bringing church to them
Yeah, that's why I live where I live
They say, "You acting cray, that ain't no place to raise your kids"
But um, if we ain't living it who else gon' show em
What a family supposed to look like instead of them broken homes
Gotta be living stones around where they getting stoned
Live and know Him, die to make Him known 'til He take us home, let's go

This is the first part of the song, and when I heard it I just had to pause and think. I feel like I completely went against what this song was saying. I'm always trying to stay away from the people that are into drugs, or living these sin filled crazy lifestyles, but I'm starting to think that's not right. These were the thoughts going through my head and I started to become confused, so I took it to the one place I knew I would find answers. The Bible.
It's amazing how God works because I instantly found this verse.
"Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?" On hearing this, Jesus said, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. But go and learn what this means: "I desire mercy, not sacrifice. "For I have not come to call the righteous, but the sinners." Matthew 9:12-13

All of my confusion and doubt was stopped right here. Jesus ate with sinners, he accepted them he loved them and called them, because they were the ones who needed saving. If this is what Jesus did then we are supposed to do it to. I started to fill kind of disappointed with  my self for not living like this, but then I realized that God brought this to my attention for a reason, and I believe that that reason was for me to realize that I'm supposed be a living stone, not just around lukewarm Christians, not just around unbelievers, but around everyone. Drug dealers, addicts, cheaters, liars  haters, everyone! Although I felt conviction  I started to feel grateful and blessed that God loves me enough to bring something to my attention and guide me along the path of light and righteousness that leads to him. It was a really great experience for me because I became humble knowing that I'm not perfect and make mistakes but there's forgiveness and that is so awesome. The lesson I've learned from all of this is that it's time to go where the Wild things are. It's time to step out of my comfort zone and put my self in places where people don't even know what the Gospel is. By doing that not only am I spreading the good news of Jesus Christ, but I'm showing people who are lost and broken, what a life with Christ looks like. I hope you guys can take something from this like I did. I'm so blessed and happy it came to my attention, and I am ready to start going where the Wild Things are. Are you?

                                                   Love,

One Piece, Two Outfits

One Piece, Two Outfits
Hey guys! So today's post is all centered around taking one piece of clothing and making it work in two different ways. Casual and Dressy. I love these pants. They are the perfect amount of bam, with a nice dash of cuteness. These pants have extreme personality, and a lot of people would be afraid to wear them, but I personally think you can make these pants comfortable for your taste depending on what you pair them with. I used two examples of how to wear this outfit. The first is a more casual approach. I started with thinking about the things I see girls wear at my school, and then I thought about what would be comfortable.   How would I wear these pants if I was going to the mall with friends or going to school without being to over the top. The top was my first priority in the casual outfit, I needed something that would even out the look, be casual, and match. I wanted to stay away from orange (it's my least favorite color) but my gut instinct told me to go for it, so I did. I ended up finding this really cute top that went perfectly with the pants, brought out the color, and was extremely casual. I paired the rest of the outfit with simple flats that you can wear anywhere and don't blend into the outfit to much, but stand out. I picked simple stud earrings and bangles. I chose the cross body bag because they are so casual (easy for school or a shopping trip) I also like how it matched the shoes. A way to make this casual outfit your own could be to pair it with a different solid color top. Tip: With any flower print pants pick a color that's in the pants for your top. In this case, yellow, pink, beige, or black.
With the dressy outfit I put my self in the mindset of going out for dinner or Church on Sunday. The fabric of the top is what really gives off the dressy look. It's sheer and light, and the soft color of it tones down the look. I love these shoes, the peach color is just right, and they are extremely simple and chic. I went with gold jewelry because it won't blend in with everything but stand out. I choose simple gold bangles and a long chain necklace. Last but not least is the clutch. A clutch is a great accessories  for a night out or a dressy outfit. This particular clutch has the perfect color combination, and is super cute. I f you don't like clutches you could always go for an over sized bag. I hope you guys enjoy these looks as much as I do.
Love,
Sofia

Being on Fire For Christ in a World that says "You're young, party, drink, enjoy life, before you're to old."

In today's world teenagers and young adults are constantly getting fed the idea that since we're young we need to live recklessly. We need to go out, party, drink, have sex, and just be "Young, Wild and Free." It will only be so soon before we're old and have kids of our own and big responsibilities  so we mine as well live it up right now right? Well yeah, but not so much in the way the World tells us.  In Ecclesiastes 11:9 it says
"Be happy, young man, while you are young, and let your heart give you joy in the days of your youth. Follow the ways of your heart and whatever your eyes see, but know that for all these things God will bring you to judgement."

This is the perfect bible verse for Christians who think being young is an excuse for partying, drinking, etc...   When we are young, we're supposed to have fun. We're supposed to be joyous and happy, we're still growing and learning, and discovering new things, and all of that is great. But it is so important to remember that it's not an excuse. God doesn't say "Because she or he is young, I will allow them to get drunk, dishonor their bodies, and do whatever they please, and look at it as acceptable." The bible verse "Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead be filled with the Spirit. (Eph 5:18)" Does not just apply to adults, it applies to everyone. The bible verse that says "Honor God with your body (1 Cor 6: 20)" does not just apply to Mom's or Grandmothers but to teenage boys and girls everywhere!  Being young is a great thing! It's a time to grow and learn and enjoy friends, and late nights, but it's also a time to build your relationship with Christ and set an example for others.

" Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity." 1 Timothy 4:12

This is such a beautiful verse in the Bible. Just in one sentence it gives us the guidelines on being young. How we should handle it and what it's all about.  So think about being young and how you can be an example to other believers ( and non believers) by your speech, life, love, faith, and purity. I hope you guys can take something from this and realize that the World will constantly tell you being young means a time for being crazy but remember " Do not conform to the patterns of this World but be transformed by the renewing of your minds," Romans 12:2.  Don't let being young be a burden, and hardship on your relationship with Christ, let being young be a blessing to your life and relationship with Christ.

This is the last part to the 3 part series "Being on Fire For Christ in a world that only wants you to be warm." I hope you guys took something from each part of the series. My goal was to write about what the worlds view on certain things is and how being on Fire for Christ will change your views and make them less like the world and more like Christ. I can promise you that being on Fire for Jesus is such an abundant blessing and has impacted my life in some amazing ways. I pray that you can learn how to be on fire for Christ and become more like him and less like the World.

Black and White

Black and White
Happy Sunday guys! I hope everyone has had a great weekend so far! Black and White are the most simple and easiest color combinations for me to put together. I love the simplicity  and chicness of the colors combined. My creation above all started with the striped Dorothy Perkins skirt. I found the skirt on Polyvore and it really caught my eye. I'm picky with black and white stripes (they remind me of the weird movie Beetle Juice). But I really like this skirt. The A-Line shape causes it to be chic and put together which is what makes the skirt so great. I decide to picture my self in this skirt and imagine what else I would wear with it, and then everything started to fall into place. The top is simple and tones down the outfit, I like the bustier fit which gives the outfit more personality. I think this outfit would look best with a high bun, because the skirt and bag can be distracting a high bun would give the outfit a cleaner look. The stud earrings  and bangles are perfect for this outfit, they're simple, not too gaudy and loud. The bag is perfect because it's not just a solid color. It takes both colors from the outfit and combines them which evens the look out. Last but not least are the shoes. It took me the longest to find a pair of shoes that would go just right with this outfit. I used the on and off method to find the shoes. In case you're wondering what that method is, it's when you match the shoes to the color of your top and not your pants, skirt, shorts, etc. These shoes are super cute ad simple, I'm a huge fan of ankle straps on heels, and the height of the heels gives the skirt a more sophisticated look (I tried flats and they just did not have the same affect as heels). Well I hope you guys have a great rest of the day and enjoy  today's post as much as I do!
Love,
Sofia

Favorite Items of the week.

Favorite Items of the week.
Happy Friday guys! I hope everyone has had a great week so far! Today I decided to review some of my favorite clothing/ accessories of the week. Hope you enjoy!
1.This peplum Alice & Olivia top is gorgeous! I love the colors, and how the flowers look almost faded. I also love that there are no sleeves, it makes the perfect top for Spring.
2. I actually found this shirt today on Pinterest. It's from the clothing company JCLU. All of their clothing is cute and stylish but also showing faith and God's love. I love this tank top, it's super cute and at the same time a great way to share your faith. I also love how in just two words it explains what the cross is all about, and how wearing crosses isn't just a fashion trend (which is how the world tends to look at it) I'm planning on getting one for my self. If you're interested in looking at their other clothes (which I recommend you do) check them out at www.jclu.com.
3. Simple yet elegant. That's what I think when I see these awesome shoes from Elizabeth & James. I love the ankle strap and nude color. You could wear these shoes with jeans or a dress and that's what makes them one of my favorite pair of shoes this week.
4. This is the perfect bag. It's not to big and it's not to small, and the pastel color combinations are just right. It's simple but yet it stands out.
5. Another favorite from Alice & Olivia are these two jackets. The light pink blazer is great because it's tailored really well, it's not boxy or over-sized so it gives you a fitted look. I also like that it's a light pink color, it causes your outfit to stand out more. I love this trench coat, it's classic but with a twist. The color is gorgeous, and the tie around the waist also gives you shape and a fitted look.
6. If you've seen some of my previous post, you know I love polka dots. So when I saw these jeans I instantly fell in love. I like the light washed denim with white polka dots. It causes the pants to not be to over the top. I also like the random rips in the jeans it gives the girly look a little bit of edge.  And last but not least we have the alphabet pants. At first I thought they were weird, but once I started looking at them more I realized that they're actually really cute. The black and white tones it down, but the letters add personality and quirkiness  And like in the picture, they look great with a pair of nude/tan heels.
