Hi guys! So for the past few days God has really been dealing with me on how I view my possessions as well as other peoples possessions. When it comes to things like clothes, makeup, jewelry, shoes, I become pretty obsessive. I love fashion, and I feel like God has given me a passion for it in order to glorify his name. But lately I've been viewing material things like clothes in a way the Jesus doesn't want us to view them. That's when I came across this bible verse above. It really opened my eyes to how were supposed to view material things. First of all were not supposed to be greedy of what others have. We're all guilty of this! Sometimes I'll see a girl with really cute expensive shoes, or a celebrity on TV with a Chanel bag and I'll say in my head "I wish I had that" or "If only I could afford that I would be so happy." This is a major mistake! When I die and go to heaven I'm not taking expensive shoes or a Chanel bag with me! The only thing I'm taking is my soul, my heart. And that's what real life is measured by, not by what we have, but by our hearts and that we are content with Christ and live not for ourselves but for Jesus. I challenge all of you as I challenge myself to remember what this life is about and that the material things we have will soon fade but the love we have from God is forever. "be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." Hebrews 13:5 |
