Though the fig tree does not blossom and there is no fruit on the vines, [though] the product of the olive fails and the fields yield no food, though the flock is cut off from the fold and there are no cattle in the stalls,Yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will exult in the [victorious] God of my salvation! The Lord God is my Strength, my personal bravery, and my invincible army; He makes my feet like hinds’ feet and will make me to walk [not to stand still in terror, but to walk] and make [spiritual] progress upon my high places [of trouble, suffering, or responsibility]! Habakkuk 3:17-19 (AMP)
I love this bible verse. I was flipping through my bible when I came across the book of Habakkuk. I had never read it before, it only has three chapters and I just always skipped over it. But I felt lead to read it so I did, and that's when I came across this awesome message. Life is hard. It is full with trials, suffering, stress, anxiety, confusion, failure, and so much more. But what I find so compelling about these verses is this, even though nothing seems to be going right, the crops aren't producing fruit, flowers won't blossom, products keep failing, and there is no cattle, this person still praises God. He still rejoices in the Lord even though everything is going wrong! Not only that but he then goes on to say that God is his strength, bravery and brings spiritual growth out of suffering and hardships. When we are faced with difficult times in life like being stressed out over school or money, being hurt or rejected by a family member or someone you love, losing someone close to you, or going through a hard season in your life like depression or failure. We tend to be angry during these times and confused at why God is allowing this to happen to us. But do we ever think that God is allowing these things to happen so that we can become closer to Him. So that we can grow spiritually. In this verse it says that God "will make me walk (not to stand still in terror, but to walk) and make spiritual progress upon my high places (of trouble, suffering, or responsibility)". God does not leave you hanging, if he brings you to something He is going to give you everything you need in order to walk through it. What an awesome promise that is! To know that whatever comes my way I have a God who is able to carry me through. And the most important thing is to praise God and rejoice in Him while going through hard seasons in life. By doing this you are bringing Him the praise He deserves and showing that you trust Him and know that He is causing everything to work together for your good(Romans 8:28). So today's message is basically this. To know that when life gets crazy or hard that it is still so important to praise God through the storm, and that you don't have to do it alone but that He is there offering strength, love, and spiritual growth and abundance in Him. Rejoice in God today no matter where you are in your life! He is so worthy of our praise.
