Polka Dots

Hey guys! Happy Saturday! I hope everyone had a good week so far. Today I want to talk about polka dots. I love them! It's one of my biggest fashion obsessions, even if they go out of style (which I don't think they will) I can see myself wearing them for the rest of my life. As Christian Dior says " They are lovely, elegant, easy, and always in fashion. I never get tired of dots." In his book The Little Dictionary of Fashion (which I love), he gives, I think, the best advice there is on how to wear dots. "Tiny dots are most suitable for petite figures. Big coin dots are good for tall people. And if you are not so slim you need to choose lighter dots on a dark background and not vice versa. Dots are lovely for holiday clothes- cotton frocks and beach outfits- and they are gay too, for accessories. According to their color, so they can be versatile...Black and white for elegance; soft pinks and blues for prettiness; emerald, scarlet, and yellow for gaiety; beige and gray for dignity." He just gave a complete guide on how to wear dots in a paragraph  and that's why I'm using it on Fashionably Faithful, so that you fashionistas out there who might question dots, or aren't so sure how to wear them, can have all your're doubts thrown out and questions answered hear.

1) Polka Dot shirts are the most common way to wear polka dots. It's simple and easy and there are so many ways to wear them. The shirt above is one of my own polka dot shirts, it's my favorite one. I love the peach and black color combination and the ruffles, the bow pulls it all together. This is a more fancier version of a polka dot shirt, because of the colors and extra design. Whenever I wear it, I pair it with a black cardigan and jeans and nude or black shoes.  The shirt below is a more casual version, the denim and light colors give it a more relaxed look.

2)  Polka Dot Pants.  I love the idea of wearing polka dots on jeans. There are so many variations and combinations of polka dot pants.  Some people are intimidated by wearing dots on jeans because the think it's to much or might make them look wider  That's not the case. Like Dior said wear lighter dots on a darker background if you don't want to look any bigger (like in the denim pants above) And if your to afraid of being over the top pair the dotted jeans with an extremely
simple tee- shirt or blouse, or wear more subtle dots (like the pastel pink pants above).
3) Skirts, Dresses, Shoes.  The main thing about these polka dot shoes and clothes I love are the colors. Black and white and black and nude are my favorites. I love the polka dot dress because it doesn't take a lot to dress it up. Simple jewelry and hair style would be all you need. I also love the nude polka dot oxfords. There so cute and simple and cause whatever outfit your wearing to stand out even more. Tip: If you wear polka dots on polka dots( like a polka dot dress and polka dot shoes) make sure they are different color and size dots.
